Mike Bryan comes to Bayou Desiard Country Club with over 30 years of experience in the tennis industry, he started teaching full-time in 1991. Mike is a former collegiate player at Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM), where he played from 1986-1990. During his NLU career the team won the Southland Conference title all four years, while Mike won four individual Conference titles: two in Singles and two in Doubles. His first two years, the team was nationally ranked in the Top 20 in Division I Tennis. Mike finished his Junior and Senior years playing #1 Singles and Doubles for NLU. Prior to coming to NLU Mike achieved a career high National ranking in Juniors of #7 in Doubles and was consistently one of the best players in Louisiana and the South. Mike took his career international where Mike played for the German team tennis where he went undefeated in Singles and Doubles. Mike then progressed to play professionally in France.

The Bryan family has a long history of tennis in Louisiana, his father was recently inducted into the Louisiana Tennis Hall of Fame, John Bryan.  John is the former coach of Chanda Rubin who is a Grand Slam Champion and currently works for the Tennis Channel.  Mike was the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for Louisiana during his junior career. Two of his three older brothers are tennis professionals also.  One of his nephews, Danny Bryan, was an All-American for LSU and is currently the Head Men’s tennis coach at Wichita State University.  Mike is married to his wife Michelle for over 25 years and they have two daughters Michaela and Grace who are currently in college.

General guidelines/ guest policy


Guests are welcome, however, must be registered and accompanied by a member or authorized family member. A guest fee of $10.00 plus applicable tax will be charged to that member, and play is restricted to three days per month with some exceptions (viewable in member handbook). Proper tennis attire should be worn on the courts at all times.
